Description

Maxon™ Clear Suture, Size 3/0, 18", with a P-12 needle, is a synthetic absorbable monofilament suture composed of polyglyconate. It is designed to provide prolonged tensile strength and a predictable absorption profile through hydrolytic degradation. The clear, undyed appearance offers minimal visual contrast when preferred in delicate surgical areas where visibility is to be reduced.

The suture maintains approximately 75% of its original tensile strength at two weeks, 65% at four weeks, and 50% at six weeks, with complete absorption occurring between 180 and 210 days. Its monofilament design ensures smooth passage through tissues, minimizing drag and reducing the risk of infection or excessive tissue trauma during closure procedures.

Maxon™ sutures are commonly indicated for general soft tissue approximation and ligation, including use in pediatric cardiovascular, ophthalmic, and general surgical procedures. The prolonged strength retention supports healing in tissues requiring extended approximation without the long-term presence of suture material.
